Review- DARK- Netflix

Dark!
A series for which I decided to write a review, even though my blog is for Book reviews only.

I watched the first season of Dark during the Christmas break. I was immediately hooked, and yes, CONFUSED! I was little bit apprehensive about recommending it to anyone, because, Dark is an immersive experience for the viewer. You cannot just work and watch it. Dark DESERVES your attention.

2nd Season of Dark aired sometimes in 2019 and I had to rewatch the whole 1st season, to not to lose the plot points. 2nd season ended somewhere, where I was devastated, and could not wait for the 3rd season!

27th June, 2020, is the MOST crucial date in the DARK universe and that is the date the makers decided to release the last and final season of this mind bending series on Netflix.

I was waiting for the clock to strike 9am (Germany) ... and I binge-watched it. By the time I finished watching it, I was on the verge of crying.

DARK was always about the love story beneath everything, that connects it all. Lisa Vicari's Martha gets almost equal importance of Louis Hosmann's Jonas, in the 3rd season. I had a pen paper beside me, all through the 3rd season, to understand the family trees. Thankfully, a lot of it became clear, once I studied the family tree onscreen!

The story in 3rd season has spanned through 3 centuries! From 1880s to 2050s! I don't know, what the writers were taking while conceiving this mammoth plot! By 5th episode, I was more confused than ever, and shocked than ever! I was almost sure that I wasn't gonna get the answers in the End! I am glad, that the makers actually answered all the riddles that they have spread through the episodes. Talk about German efficiency! Dark is a prime example of that!

Now, the music! Haunting, yet beautiful. The heart ache of the characters often touched me, due to the use of music. It grew on my nerves and at time I forgot to breath! That's how important music is, to this series.

Der Anfang ist das Ende ist der Anfang!
The Beginning is the End is the Beginning!

How beautifully Dark has justified its tagline!

This season also offered some amazing camera work and visually stunning scenes. Especially, near the climax are some of the stunning and dazzling scenes. The last couple of episodes are mostly solving the puzzles and in the end when you hear Jonas saying for the very last time "wir passen perfekt zusammen, glaub nie etwas anderes" i.e "we fit perfect together, never believe anything else"... and in the most heart-achingly beautiful yet dark scene, it was a flicker of Hope and Love and finally there was Peace! I, however, had tears in my eyes....

DARK is the most original series I have ever seen and with this the benchmark of Sci-fi has been set so high, that I doubt would never be touched!
