Magpie Murders- written by Anthony Horowitz, is a book that came with very high recommendation from a friend. I was in bit doubt though, as I was reading various other genres these days and didn't really want to invest in a "whodunnit". However, in the end I decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did that.
Magpie Murder is a "whodunnit" inside a "whodunnit" and Mr. Horowitz has blended the two stories efficiently and with plenty of twists and sub plots it could be difficult to predict. However, the thriller lover in me has figured out a few things pretty early (I wish I didn't though) and was tadbit disappointed in the end.
Magpie murders in many ways a tribute to Agatha Christie. It tells the story of the editor of a publishing house, Susan and her reading of the script of their most successful author's manuscript. The manuscript ends abruptly, and from there starts a real life murder investigation and both are intertwined.
Horowitz is writing the new James Bond novel, and after Magpie murders, I think I am intrigued about that.
