Book review- Lethal White

My rating- 3.5/5

Lethal White is the 4th installment of J.K Rowlings crime novel series and I would say it is the best one till now. Rowling pens this series unser the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith and the first three books were neither bad nor overwhelming to me. Even though I loved the camaraderie between its two protagonists Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott, the Strike novels I always found entertaining but average.

However, Lethal White satisfied me to some extent. It is a 650 pages long book and some may say, that is little bit too long to be a crime novel. I, however, enjoyed reading it as it was quite a page turner from the very beginning. The book starts right where it ended in 'The career of Evil' and the author took her sweet time to build up the story premise.

There's a lot going on in Lethal White as it is set during the London ParaOlympics, 2012. There were whispers of double dealing and conspiracies and the book takes you through that. Corruption is at the center of the story while it is not just political corruption, the book also shows you different shades of the high class society and its people. Horses play an interesting part in it, as you can see in the name of the book.

Cormoran Strike is an interesting character. Brooding, dark and intelligent. However, I cant be that generous saying such nice things about Robin's character. This novel definitely offers us some interesting twists, even though none of them are really explosive, they are definitely interesting.

It starts when a mentally unstable person comes to Strike for help. He said he experienced a killing many years back. Simultaneously, Robin's personal life with Matthew takes an U-turn and Strike and Robin were entangled in a high-profile blackmail case.

Lethal White is at time too complicated and the writing is not at its top always. However, the storytelling is inventive and enjoyable. It is definitely worth reading.
