Book Review- Vengeful by V.E Schwab

The world of fantasy for me has changed in last few years. I have realized, that more than epic fantasies, I enjoy the world, where fantastic, magical, extraordinary things are happening in this very world or a world just like this one.

My first encounter with VE Schwab happened a month ago when I started reading her book Vicious (Villains #1). I was Mesmerized to see the characters and to become a part of that.

Vengeful begins, where Vicious ended. Eli Cardale is now imprisoned and is witnessing the horror of his "gift". Everyday, he is being killed by a scientist, to figure out his regenerating power and its limit. 

Viktor, on the other hand is also suffering. Sydney brought him back to life, but, he is dying every now and then, and then coming back to life. Every day he stays dead a lil longer than before.

Sydney has matured a bit, but not much. There were times, I really wanted to infuse some sense in her character. Then I realized, she is just being a teenager and she is supposed to be naive, stupid and difficult.

We meet June and Marcella. Two very important and interesting characters. We see glimpses of Eli's past which helped to understand him a little better. What this book successfully does, just like Vicious, is that it blurs the line between the idea of good and evil, of white and black. It stays in grey throughout. Victor and Eli, the relationship is of admiration, of hatred, of love and of repulsion, All jumbled up together. We meet Detective Stell again. Confused between his guts and the ever-growing trouble in the world. Stell is the human thread for me, in this story.

Vengeful is not just a tell of Victor and Eli's vengeance, yet the book is about vengeance of many people, in many ways. It was an "ExtraOrdinary" and exhilarating read throughout.
