Book review- The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

You know how sometimes some books seem so promising that you can’t wait to read it and then when you start, after a point you start struggling? The Starless Sea for me was one such book. This book became tedious for me to go on after a point.

Zachary Ezra rawlins, Mirabel, Dorian, the moon, secret doors, painting on wall, tarrots, a sea deep inside the world- I mean there is everything to be excited about. It is actually Alice in wonderland in a new packaging. Unfortunately, unlike Alice in wonderland, here nothing was actually going on in the main story. I was lost for most of it. Also confused.

The premise was magical. The stories inside stories inside stories are beautiful. However, I cannot say same about the characters. A lot of the characters I found were half-baked. The author took a lot of time to build up the worlds and its layers. I wish she did the same for the characters. As an absolute lover of the fantasy genre and her previous book The night circus, I am heartbroken. I really wanted to like this book, but I couldn’t.
